I am Dr Carlotta Dapino, a qualified Counseling Psychologist (Ordine degli Psicologi della Liguria nr 2597). I live and work in Genoa, Albaro.
I am enthusiastic about my work, and passionate about prevention to enhance human functioning, promotion of well-being and helping people (children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and couples) to feel better with themselves.
In 2015 I completed my master’s degree in psychology in Turin, Italy, and in 2017 a post-graduate course in “Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Wellbeing” at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust in London. Now, I am training in psychoanalysis of relations, an innovative approach which is characterised by collaboration between the patient and the therapist.
My approach is a talking therapy that aims to help people to develop better understanding of themselves. More specifically, I consider symptoms as the best solution that people could use to survive in their specific context of life. Understanding in collaboration the meaning of those symptoms it is possible to think of a different solution which is more oriented on wellbeing.
I welcome in my room individuals or couples (meaning a group of minimum 2 people) who seek for help to overcome difficulties that they are facing in life. The issues I am working with are trauma, depression, anxiety, burn-out, lack of self-esteem, anxiety disorders, relational difficulties (also emotional dependency), transitory crisis related to life changes (e.g. going through a divorce, work’s changes, gender identity uncertainty, and much more), to name but a few.
Now, I have experience both in private practice, and in the public sector in schools, where I work on prevention and promotion of mental wellbeing. I strongly believe in the importance of early prevention in school as meaningful for mental health. I am a member of ISPA, International School Psychology Association, inspiration for a good practice.
